Jeffry Picower, friend of Madoff, found at the bottom of his pool

Never mind the irony of the fact Jeffry Picower is known as a philanthropist. He's been accused of profiting more than $7 billion and change from the Ponzi scheme of his longtime friend and business associate Bernie Madoff. Picower is dead.

PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Jeffry Picower, a philanthropist accused of profiting more than $7 billion from the investment schemes of his longtime friend Bernard Madoff, was found at the bottom of the pool at his oceanside mansion and died Sunday, police said. He was 67.

His death has been ruled a drowning. Regardless, the convenience of his death means that recovering the massive amount of money he stole from his own foundation could prove extremely difficult.
